Plastics in water supplies is not a secret anymore.
I just got this (confirmatory) notice from my local Real Estate Association about the hazards of plastics in water supplies. When the Real Estate industry is concerned, you can be assured that it has really become an issue (as real estate is a generally conservative industry in my mind).

91% of the world’s plastic debris goes into landfills or oceans, rather than being recycled.
Now that China is not accepting the world’s recycling, most East Bay plastic is NOT being recycled!
EACH DAY on average 870,000 tiny pieces of plastic enter the SF BAY from our EBMUD treatment plants, the majority from plastic water bottles and single-use food containers.
By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.
You can join the international movement to raise awareness and reduce plastic use. Please be part of the local solution:
Pledge to not use plastic water bottles, nor offer plastic water bottles at your open houses.
